The structure of this website is based on Simon Sinek’s concept “Start With Why.” I invite you to watch his video posted by TED Talk.
Everything I do as an educator, I do it for my kids (my students). I call them my kids because it’s a privilege to coexist at least one year of my life with them. I teach and learn, I lead and follow because, maybe, I am chronological older than them, but their souls are ageless. I believe in their uniqueness. I believe they deserve a space where they can learn at their pace. Space where they can learn from their mistakes without fear or criticism. I believe my classroom is a safe haven where they can grow physically, intellectually, and spiritually. They are the reason I’m a teacher.
Why are you a teacher?
They ask
I think, they expect a grandiloquent response,
but, no
Was it a call of vocation?
no
Is it the money, the humongous vacations, the prestige?
No… no… no…
Is it because you want to live with a deep sense of purpose?
Mmm… that’s interesting; but, no
Is it because you want to experience personal growth?
I don’t want to grow! Nooo
Is ti because you want to give and receive unconditional love?
Who told you it is unconditional? Nooo!
Why are you a teacher?
They ask
I really don’t know,
or… maybe… it’s…
their laugh…
their crying…
their happiness…
their sadness…
their brightness…
their frustration…
their love…
their ephemeral rancor…
I REALLY DON’T KNOW!
But,…
I know…
it’s because of them.
